About Us
Who are we?
We are a small homegrown jewellery brand with big dreams and even bigger goals. We continually strive to bring beautiful jewellery design and inspirational content to our amazing followers and friends. Based in our humble studio in Devon, just outside of Exeter, we are a British jewellery brand with some seriously tropical roots.
Tropical roots meets intrinsically British jewellery
You may have noticed how inspired we are by endless summers and dreamy tropical seascapes, with a love for uncomplicated mindful design. We endeavour to bring a taste of the tropics to you where ever you are in the world. Join us as we look to sunny skies, slow fashion and a deep respect for the endless beauty that our natural world has to offer.
Our Studio
Our Devon studio encapsulates the Cabinet Jewellery brand, filled with a curated wonderland of collected objects that helped inspire new collections, tactile mood boards and natural textures from which we carefully extract the fine details that are the key foundations to a jewellery collection. We take pride in the skilled trade’s people we work with at Birmingham jewellery quarter, producing our gold and silversmith work in the UK, ensuring quality craftsmanship and execution of our designs.
Our Ethos
Take a leap of faith from time to time..
The most important possessions we have are our memories and the chances we have to make new ones with the people whom we love, inspire and enrich our lives. We are all shaped by defining moments and for me it was on the East coast of Australia on a tiny island in the Whitsunday’s when I stumbled upon a memorial dedicated to a young free diver who disappeared at dusk. I never knew him but will remember his tribute forever.
“A SHIP IN HARBOUR IS SAFE BUT NOT WHAT THEY WERE INTENDED FOR”
So… be Brave, Dream Big and Do Right.
Our Story
Our internationally acclaimed jewellery continually evolves each season… we march to our own beat exploring new materials and textures. For our founder Gemma Critchley, the brand was a natural evolution of her lifelong affinity for collecting.
Spending much of her childhood in the West Indies where her parents lived for nearly 20 years, she grew fascinated with the continually changing life and colour both above and below the surface of the crystal clear ocean. “There are so many things unearthed in a Nor’wester storm that may not be solid gold, but I would certainly call treasures,” Critchley says. “I named the brand after the curiosity-filled cabinets that I began to fill and the new ones I would come across while scouring antique shops, flea markets, and reclamation yards.
Our name represents our continuous quest for evolution and reinvention, and our love for all the wonderful things that have already stood the test of time.” Featuring in numerous publications, including Vogue, Tatler and Elle and creating exclusive collections for companies such as Swarovski, Paul Smith, Anthropologie and HP France, Cabinet continue to develop exciting original pieces which reflect both cultural and natural inspirations and echo its clients’ unique style.
